The Second European Biosensor Symposium
Firenze 18-21 February 2019
The Symposium aims to stimulate exchanges among researchers working in Europe, or abroad, in the field of Biosensors, in a friendly and exciting environment.
The idea is to bring together young scientists and experienced researchers to discuss new ideas and to push foreword emerging interesting approaches and by building networking to establish a base for funding application. The presence of companies represent an added value to integrate technologies with applications.
Young researchers at the beginning of their career are invited to present their most recent results from the front end of research. Seniors will give introductions on special advanced aspects of biosensor research and technology. Some keynotes will present high end research and show the directions of current trends. Selected presentations on applications and industrial success will round up the comprehensive picture of the state of biosensor R&D in Europe.
The Second European symposium follows the first one, held in Postdam in 2017, resulting from the 10th edition of German Biosensors Symposium a bi-annual event, first held 1999 in Munich, and the idea to move to a wider, European platea.
The Symposium not only draws attention to young scientists to make their first steps in their academic career but also attract seniors and companies to learn about the most recent trends, but also to see who are the drivers of the development.
The Symposium will cover all topics of biosensor research and focus on
- Technologies for innovative formats: miniaturized, implantable, non-invasive, disposable, single/multiarray bio-sensors, paper-diagnostics
- Bioengineered and biomimetic recognition elements (MIPs, aptamers, receptors, modified enzymes with increasing catalytic activity, sensor-actuator-molecules etc.)
- Nanotechnology, surface engineering and bioelectronics (Single-Molecules and molecular sensors, nanoparticles and nanostructures enhancing biosensor performance etc.)
- Cell biosensors: Sensors with cells (Pharma testing, cell toxicity, REACH); in the cell („Pebbels“, indicators, „biosensing“); for cell research and single cell based diagnostics (Patch-Clamp and electrodes, sensors for regenerative therapies)
- Advances in applications (applications in the clinics and „traditional“ areas like environment and food safety, infection diagnostics including alternative strategies (e.g. mass spec. for microbes), cultural heritage, new applications
- Microfluidic for biosensing/integration
- Theory and mathematics, software development: e.g. multivalence in bio-sensing.
